The night started off very strong. Our server Justin was a joy and had personality, a sense of humor, and a great vibe. He was attentive, made great suggestions for drinks, and kept everyone at the table in a great mood.
The food... the food was hit and miss. Our appetizers were amazing. The calamari was a major hit with the entire table. And it gave us high hopes for the rest of the meal. Which was honestly a letdown. We ordered a variety of food, and the general consensus was, "It's alright." I ordered the seafood tower and got a giant bowl of ice. There wasn't enough food on the plate to feed one person, and for the price, I think that is unacceptable.
So if you go be prepared because again the entire staff is pleasant and kind. However, some of the food can miss the mark.
Decent food here. Nice server! Was invited here for a family birthday dinner. I had the lobster roll (too much Mayo) I like it buttery usually. Good Caesar salad, but the grilled salmon lacked flavor I thought.
It's hard to get fresh seafood in the Chicago area. So this place we finally dined in is very refreshing. We are not drinker though, so appreciate the food seafood.
Let me preface this, Google reviews should give us the opportunity to give half stars, because this was a 4.5-star experience.
First of all, my wife made a reservation on their system, but strangely, couldn't find the confirmation, and it didn't get taken by their side. Not a big deal, we just weren't able to dine outside, so we sat at the bar.
The bartender Michael was super friendly and knowledgeable. He made our evening a lot of fun. He made a pretty good Aviation, and I am glad they keep a Violet liquor in the bar. He helped us make our final wine decision and it ended up in a very nice Albariño.
We ended up ordering the seafood tower and shrimp and scallop skewer. This is, unfortunately, where I would take off points. This does not reflect flavor, freshness, or presentation; it reflects the lack of meat in the crab and lobster. They were a bit on the skimpy size and were so small, they seemed overcooked a bit. The skewer, which there was only 1, the scallops were nice sized as were the shrimp. I still can't overlook how little meat there was in the crab and lobster.
Besides the Crab and Lobster, everything else was great.
I want to try some more of the menu, so we will definitely be coming back here in the future.
Pescadero is a cute local spot to grab lunch or dinner! I recommend the clam chowder and fish & chips. They also have a nice outdoor patio for summer dining.
Went here during a wedding in between hour, bar across the street was super packed with the rest of the wedding party so we wandered over here and I'm so glad we did. Justin and the rest of the staff at Pescadero made us feel right at home and they got us ready to head to the reception! Oysters, stone crab and drinks were all amazing. Highly recommend!
We had a light dinner and drinks on the patio, enjoying a lovely spring evening. I had the watermelon salad and my friend went for the chopped salad. Our cocktails were nice - I had the Captain Vandalay and I thought it was refreshing but lacked the zing I was hoping from the grapefruit. The cocktail with the orchid is Lady Lydia. The service is always friendly. I had their oysters before and they were very fresh. Be ready that there’s always a bit of a push for the oysters (since it’s an oyster bar!).
Best oysters I have eaten in years!! Expensive but is worth it. Portions are simple but tasty ill be back. We spent $200 for two. With two drinks.
